BREC announced today that they have been nominated as a finalist for Performing Arts Centre of the Year in this year’s Drover Awards presented by the Australian Performing Arts Centres Association (APACA).

The Drover Award for Performing Arts Centre of the Year recognises the achievements of organisations that consistently provide outstanding performance in production, marketing and management services, as well as demonstrating exceptional success in audience development and community engagement.

“We are thrilled to be nominated as a finalist … it is a great achievement to be voted by the performers coming through the centre, it is a strong indication to the people of the region that BREC is providing a top end production and marketing services which can be compared to some of the major cities and venues around the nation“, says Sharon Custers, General Manager – BREC.

The Drover Awards, first introduced in 2003, recognise and celebrate the contribution made by Australia’s best performing arts touring talent. The awards do this by acknowledging the skill and expertise required for touring – whether it be through major cities or in regional and remote Australia.

“The Drover Awards celebrate and recognise the great work being done by arts centres and producing companies alike delivering some of Australia’s best shows to audiences right across the country.” Said APACA Executive Director, Rick Heath.

BREC was announced as a finalist for Performing Arts Centre of the Year along with other finalists including Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre and the Princess Theatre in Launceston.

Winners will be announced at the 32nd annual Australian Performing Arts Centres Association (APACA) conference to be held at The Concourse, Chatswood NSW, Thursday 24 August 2017.
