Musical Phantom Of Opera Opens This Weekend!

Musical theatre fans will rejoice as The Phantom of the Opera season opens at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre.

BREC and the South West Opera Company (SWOC) are again joining forces to create a new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s massively popular musical The Phantom of the Opera.

Utilising the artistic, production and technical skills of SWOC and BREC, The Phantom of the Opera features a strong local cast and orchestra, spectacular costumes and technical innovation giving theatre goers a memorable theatre experience.

“I’m delighted that BREC and SWOC have come together again to bring this wonderful musical to the BREC stage,” says Fiona de Garis, Executive Director at BREC. “It’s a unique opportunity for theatre fans young and old to experience the high-calibre of talent the South West region has to offer and I’m sure our audiences will be thrilled to experience a large-scale production, without the big musical ticket prices too”, de Garis goes on to say.

Based on the novel by Gaston Leroux The Phantom of the Opera is a powerful gothic story embedded in glorious music and driven by an emotional and terrifying urgency as the young singer Christine is torn between the Phantom’s intense and seductive allure and her love of her childhood sweetheart Raoul.

“The story, and particularly Lloyd Webber’s music, are really well known, and this show brings technical challenges and opportunities which make it great fun for all involved; and the product should be truly spectacular,” says Tony Martin, Production Manager at South West Opera Company.
